When Rent was in San Diego, I had the pleasure to meet gay artist Joe Phillips. Joe has ascended to world fame with his numerous books and two animated films. His unmistakable style and his sure sense for gay fantasies have allowed him to build up a faithful fan base. Joe gave me a tour of his studio and I got to meet his brother Lex. I asked Joe if he would be interested in doing a piece inspired my me and he agreed to do it! I have always been a huge fan of Joe’s work and never imagined he would do a piece with me in it.
